Tips, checklist, A to Z for mom to be..

Disclaimer : This entry written based on personal opinion and observation. It night be long, but really hope worth reading. Another thing there is a lot of hyperlink to my previous entries and also from other blogger/ site

The moment of joy

I believe the moment that we found out that we're pregnant..its something really new experience and of course somehow it might be clueless

I wont write in details, just some kind of general notes..the rest blh google jelah kan?

A. Pregnancy
1. Antenatal check up - you can choose to have check up with gov clicnic, private clinic / hospital. The choice is yours, as long as you have proper check up. For those plan to have check up with gov clinic, you read some tips here

2. EDD - EDD give is just an estimate...you might end up have early/ on the EDD itself or overdue. Sume ni kuasa Allah kan? so kita boleh doa sahaja baby selamat dilahirkan

3. Problems - eg bleeeding in early pregnancy, miscarriage, pre-eclampsia - you might have smooth sailing pregnancy while some ended with problems. Remember each pregnancy is unique, so get some professional advice and be patient.

4. Hormones and emotion - Yes pregnancy can produce a number of conflicting emotions

5. Common discomfort and complaints - Cramp, constipation, nausea, heartburn, tiredness and so on. Some might have it for temporary esp first trimester and end of pregnancy but some have almost 9 months!

6. Healthy eating - Most would say eating for two..but personally I believe eat moderately as afraid might end up with overweight pregnancy which can lead to other problems.

7. Wardrobe and looking your best - I believe nowadays pregnancy do not limit ur fashion (except myself..both pregnancy rasa cm selekeh..). A lot of choices nowadays and the good thing you can wear it even after delivered..like maxi so on. But for me I prefer to have 2-in-1 maternity and nursing bra, maternity and nursing blouse/ shirt (most shirt worn here are 2 in 1..ramai xperasan pun kan) . Oh ya pregnancy hormone also can affect the colour and texture of your skin..jgnla terkejut pelipat2, ketiak ka tiba hitam semacam..

8. Preparing for your little one - I believe around second trimester is the best time to start shopping for your little one. The good thing for those stay in KL/ Selangor, you can have wider option from baby expo and warehouse sale. You don't need to buy the whole mall before the arrival of lil ones

9. Third trimester discomfort - false alarm, braxton hicks, plus kicks counts


B. Breastfeeding choice
The first food for ur baby is milk, and of course breatmilk is the best

Dalam Islam pun dinyatakan klu mampu bf until 2 years. Once u become mother u'll know how certain mothers so fanatic on bf to the extend ada yg smpi berperang kat internet - mcm gelar anak2 yg minum FM (formula milk) ni anak lembu and so on

Learn about bf as much as you can - books, net, forum so on. Personally I prefer to learn through books because it written and covered topic by topic, while thru net you might not sure where to start


C. Antenatal, breastfeeding & hypnobirthing class
It is not a must. But I really encouraged for first time parents to be attend the antenatal class. At least both of you get the general idea esp the labour process.

If you have extra budget and time, you can attend breastfeeding and hypnobirthing.

I think around second trimester is the best time to attend such classes. Dont wait until the last minute.

Some classes conducted for free while some you have to pay for the materials & food. You can check around through internet or simply make few call. Sblm terlupa like myself bersalin di Hospital Putrajaya, tapi gi kelas antenatal KJMC...so xsemestinya gi kelas antenatal KJMC, bersalin kat KJMC jugak. But certain place ada yg hanya bukak kelas untk patient yg bersalin di situ

D. Choice in childbirth
1. Natural birth-involves the use of breathing and relaxation technique termasukla hypobirthing, some need assistance - episotomy, vacuum in order to deliver ur baby

2. Caesarean birth - in case you cannot deliver normally, the option is caesarean

3. Water birth - you can check Dr Halina's post here on water birth experience. I found blogger post here the water birth cost is RM6k++

Get some general idea on how each process will take place..at least adala idea sikit2 nk persiapkan diri ke labour room

Learn few terms like episiotomy, epidural, enthonox, pitocin, forcep delivery, vacuum extraction...Ok nanti bakal2 ibu ingat cam nk g peksa plak...no-no just gain as many knowledge as u can, so at least bila misi kata sy nk bg pitocin, anda start pk bukan2

For second time mother, if you have caesarean previously you still can have VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean). Talk and discuss with your gynea/ expert


E. Birthplan
hehe bkn kawen aje ada plan..nk bersalin pun ada plan

1. do you wish to have with u during labour-husband, mother? Klu kt malaysia bersalin normal biasanya nowadays blh je husband temankan...believe me husband will be become our best partner ever..

2. can birth partner remain with u if u have caesarean or forceps delivery? Tang ni kena tnyala doc awal2...but normally csect husband xleh masuk..pe2 pun tnyala kt doc tmpt nk bersalin tu

3. pain relief, which sort do u want? Ha tang ni susah nk kata sbb masing2 tahap tahan sakit berlainan...klu rasa nk epidural mintak awal sbb certain stage, dh dilated 6cm above dia xbg..

4. are u going to breastfeed? Insya Allah sume nk bf kan? for those bersalin kt swasta inform awal2 nk bfkan baby...for gov hosp most likely mmg encourage bf...I really encourage time kt hospital ni jgn segan2 tnya psl bf ni..even u can ask them about marmet (teknik ni amatla bagus untk dipelajari sbb ftwm ada potential nk tertinggal pump parts ..so time2 nila sesuai praktis marmet)


F. Choosing hospital, father friendly, baby friendly
On top of this I believe budget will come first, govt or private is ur own personal choice. Father friendly means that husband can accompany while in labour room. Baby friendly for hospital support breastfeeding

Buat yg beragama Islam dan mampu sebaik2nya pilihla doktor perempuan untuk monthly checkup. Kita baca sini ye untk lebih lanjut


G. Hospital bag
Get prepare around 32 weeks. My checklist posted here. Insya Allah will revisited and update later, since actually you can pack 1 bag standy at home (in case kena stay lama kat hospital then barulah breastpump berguna...and extra things like pampers so on)



H. Cord blood
This is something consider new in Malaysia..its not a must, but an optional...and of course its not free. If you have extra budget, you can opt for it (jd retis gak yg untung...sume co nk sponsor brg baby and even cord blood)


I. Labour and birth
Show, water breaking, contractions. 3 stage of labour.

For first time mum usually xsure cmne contraction kan..klu rasa xyakin blhla ke hospital, but u might end up kena balik rumah balik sbb false alarm. BUT if waterbag breaking..air ketuban dh pecah, sila terus ke hospital..penting sgt sbb baby kan diliputi air ketuban ni, klu air ketuban dh kurang bahaya


J. Islamic birth
Azan & iqamat, tahnik, cukur rambut, akikah, khatan, menamakan anak dgn nama yg baik, tanam uri dgn segera

Hukum mencukur rambut di sini ye


K. Confinement
Confinement pun kena la ada sedikit sebanyak plan
1. How long - 30 hari? 44 hari? 100 hari?

2. where - kampung? rumah sdiri? rumah MIL?

3. whom will take care - mak, MIL, or maybe confinement services (ok pricey, tapi klu dh xde mak/ mak dh tua sgt ini antara option- cth shadira, ireetouch, jemari tradisional so on- for further testimonial sila google ye)

4. confinement regime - learn a lil bit confinement regime..pantang makan minum, urut, tungku, bengkung so on...ikut tak ikut tu ikut diri masing2la kan...

5. confinement massage - I have to write this, for those S'gor/KL u might be suprise it will cost u..kdg untk 3 hari dh beratus2. Plus please survey and book in advance...weh glamer tau makcik2 tukang urut bersalin ni. Some even offer massage so on and even stay in house. some just basic package

6. breastfeeding plan - ok during confinement u can stock up ur milk! esp those FTWM (full time working mom)..bkn pe kdg dh start keje, stress..time mgmt-keje vs pump..so on susu pun maybe ada naik turunnya..so stok2 ni akan berguna di saat memerlukan. For those have confinement at kampung, don't worry u can transport ur frozen EBM safely. U can refer her entry here (fatih, pinjam ye...malas nk taip bnyk2)


L.Post natal
Lots of post natal issues like post natal depression, getting back into shape, tiredness vs relaxation, hair loss so on. Talk to ur gynea if you are unsure

Oh ya please do not forget to have pap smear (if not mistaken a month after delivery)


M. Newborn
You might find the first weeks at home with ur new baby quite difficult. Don't worry its learning process

Newborn care - how to hold new baby, bathing, dressing, breastfeeding technique, sleeping, crying, colic and so on. OK sila jgn ingat baby hanya tido...baby tido kejap2 je, kejap2 nk susu..


N. Immunization

You will be given baby book which there is table of compulsory immunization. You can opt to get it at klinik kesihatan or clinic. But if you choose KK you have to be prepared with long hours waiting (like pregnancy check up, except this time with ur lil one)

Beside compulsory immunization, you can have additional jab eg rotavirus and pneumococcal - posted here. Recently ada kata nk masukkan rotavirus as compulsory but not sure when it will be implemented (ok I just realised something..ada kata rotavirus ada babi, but ada plak yg kata org g haji pun kena amik rotavirus..then cmner ye? erk...dh terlepas dua anak amik rotavirus)


O. Childhood illnesses
sickness, diarrhoea, high temperature, fever, refuse to eat/ drink, teething.

Lupa plak klu demam blh la jeram ngan air asam jawa...bancuh asam jawa (mcm nk masak) lps tu lumurka kat badan, kepala anak.Insya Allah suhu badan akan turun


P. Insurance and saving
Start early. It is not a must to save certain amount, but sedikit2 lama2 jadi bukit kan? Having insurance and saving at least will make parents be prepared for the children future esp when it comed to education cost

For saving, if plan to have 2 in 1 plan, you can open SSPN account - saving and at the same time you can cliam for tax deduction (current claim max RM3k)


Q. Family planning
There a lot of option for family planning. But each comes with pros and cons. Discuss it with your husband and gynea.

Some might found that they are not suitable with certain type of family planning - cthnya ada yg susu jd sikit (so bf mommy klu yg amik family planning jenis pil kena tnya dl doc), some even having heavy bleeding, irregular menses, headache and so on

If you're in final trimester please talk and plan with ur partner, even u can ask ur gynea..don't wait to last minute because you might end up having a close gap pregnancy (yg xkisah tu xpelah, bkn pe being working mum, anak rapat2, cost of living..blh stress jugak tu)

Breastfeeding also can consider as natural family planning, or known as LAM. LAM is 98% - 99.5% effective during the first six months postpartum. So sooner or later u still need to thing about family planning!


R. Nursery, baby sitter, parents, parents in law, maid
You have to decide whom will taking care ur baby once u back at work. So start early (even u not yet delivered)

You can check from neighbours, friends to find for the trusted nursery/ baby sitter. The cost range from RM 200 - 300, besides there is overtime esp if u working late.

Each option have pros and cons, klu hantar anak nursery bersedia la kdg2 dlm beg tu ada brg baby lain - kes tersalah masuk brg, senang berjangkit penyakit


S. Back at work
Once u back at work, the timetable might be totally change..You might need to slot pumping session between juggling with work, and of course a lot change..You might rush urself because u'll missed ur baby soo badly. Beside no more such working on weekend (if possible), and no karaoke session with collegue (haha..this apply to me...mmg xpernah ikut karaoke)


T. Adjusting with the whole family
Your life will change a lot. And believe me you will learn to adjust almost everything

My personal exp? hmm masa mula naik kerja (ni time afham je ada), balik rumah salah sorg akan letih xingat dan tdo awal...pstu mcm take turn isnin selasa - ibu jaga afham, ayah tdo awal, rabu khamis - ayah jaga afham, ibu tdo awal...and it last for a month jugak kot..skrg xde dh. dua2 dh biasa (get to use, tp serious letih la)..


U. Baby and u
Ok tak tau nk letak header pe...but most likely anything related to ur baby..issues like playing and learning with toys, baby massage, travelling with baby, keeping ur child safe, teething and so on so forth.

Some even started early education..ada yg kecik2 lg dh ajar mengaji..ni ikut masing2lah kan, all parents want to provide the best for their children


V. Introducing solid
I would recommend once ur baby hit 4 months, it time for u to learn homemade solid food. You can refer few website and join facebook group (HSFFYB) . Commercial baby's food is expensive and homemade solid food will save some $$ plus kasih sayang. Don't worry u don't need to become Masterchef to cook for ur little ones.

W. Milestone and development
From grip ur finger tightly, lift head, smile, cooing, laugh, roll ball, talking and to the first baby step.

Baby's development - sight vision, hearing, smell, taste, touch, talking, social behaviour, mobility, play

Remember each babies have their own and unique development. For example some can walk before hit their 1st birthday while some later..talk to expert/paed if you have major concern


X. Natural parenting
Known also as "asuhan alami" - breastfeeding(BF) , babywearing(BW), cloth diapering (CD),homemade solid food, homeschool. The choice is urs!


Y. Read and learn from others
Read more books and learns from others..kakak, mak , atok, mana yg baik kita blh teruskan, mana yg xberapa elok/ sesuai pandai2lah kita elakkan

Believe me sometimes it can be stressful, ada kata cmni, ada kata cmtuh..if anything unsure talk to expert (at least they know better

Z. Enjoy motherhood journey
It might be tough, but u'll enjoy it.

Forget about stretch mark, long hours in labour room and so many motherhood issues (bf issue and so on) - I remembered while attending antenatal class, someone asked the gynea about stretch mark- her answer just simple.."itu tandanya anda dah jadi ibu


If you expect this entry to have baby checklist, I'm really sorry..not this time. I will try my best to share it later (yes it takes ages to finish an entry because so many commitment and sometimes I lost my mojo)

Hope this will be really worth reading esp for mom to be! Nak share kat yg lain pun boleh..sharing is caring! klu ada yg nk tambah pun most welcome. FPP & TCM Hospital Putrajaya

Well I believe that I do not have to explain FPP...but since I believe more mums to be registered there let me share some personal experience

2009- early 2010
Dr Hamidah asked want to have check up either in morning or afternoon..so usually I choose morning since husband accompanied me
Waiting time not really to long
I consider not really much people aware about FPP

end of 2010 - middle of 2011
Dr Hamidah fixed the timing usually afternoon...no such request in morning
Have to wait, but I consider as okay, because can buy magazine, or have a drink, food at cafe
More and more mums to be sign up...perhaps words of mouth?

But overall service still tip top (for me)! Klu lama sgt tggu esp Dr ada emergency cases , nurse akan inform from time to time...but during pregnantkan Afham, sume check up ngan Dr Hamidah, but with Alif ada sekali check up ngan Dr Hazim, since Dr Hamidah dlm LR..

Oh ya when I delivered Alif, we still choose Executive Ward, but this time we were not able to get single room..so no choice la kan..so dpt bilik yg 2 org...but I noticed theres few diff

Single room
Have recliner chair
Have mini fridge

Double room
No recliner chair
No mini fridge

But they charge same! Mcm x aci kan...but the nurses will inform and help from time to time in case single room available...

On top of that I knew I promised to write about TCM, luckily one silent reader reminds me...so I hope you'll read on this ( klu ada pe2 blh email me ok?)

I saw TCM unit even pregnantkan Afham lg, tp no ntah x gi tnya..mebi sbb rasa xsure...then while pregnantkan Alif, while waiting for my turn usually I will walk around ( selalunya beli pau kat sbelah TCM tu). So one fine day, I just walk in and ask few question. The staff there gave me below phamplet.

I even asked few times whether FPP patient can get free postnatal massage..and the answer Yes..but must be normal delivery at Hospital Putrajaya and depends on the availability..since this unit not only cover postnatal massage..malah ada acupunture, urut makcik, pakcik, atok2 ok? So ramai jugak patient di situ..

The nurse informed that I cannot preregister myself for postnatal massage (even though we already know EDD - EDD pun bkn tepat kan psl tu xleh register awal2).

Other than postnatal massage they also have breast massage. I delivered Alif on 29th evening..so on early morning 30th nurse inform that she will bring me and another patient for breast massage..if not mistaken on 29th tu blh mlm nurse adala borak2 then I asked about breast massage TCM, then the nurse said she will help to register for morning session.

The session just simple, they just massage breast area...since I do not have engorgement so on..kakak tu urutkan just urut2 bagi lancarkan susu.The session just took about 10-15mins. Nothing to bring - minyak ke hape xpayah bawak ok?

Ok, back to postnatal massage. Husband register my name on 30th morning. He just informed TCM unit (ok I'm not sure kena isi form bagai ke..haha) but just inform them normal delivery. Then they gave 3 dates to come and a list of thing to bring on (bengkung, daun sirih, minyak urut etc). And the 3 dates were almost 2 weeks after the delivery date (kan org biasa urut lps few days je kan..ni kena tggu turn smpi dkt 2 minggu..) Of course I'm really worried, last time urut hari ke 7 bersalin pun myself dh demam mcm masuk angin, inikan plak kena tggu...

But to my suprised this time ok..xde demam so on.Phew. So I just follow the appoinment date

Oh ya all the postnatal massage is within 1 hour. No extension of time..yelah nama pun free plus they are like non stop ada je patient

Day 1
I bring those items in list. But daun sirih dh layu (simpna dlm peti ais..) so kakak tu guna daun lain yg (she went outside petik daun ape ntah..)

The session start with checking blood pressure, ada isi form jugaklah...(nk tau details kot2 ada alergik ke hape) plus ada amik darah (tp sekali tu jelah)

Then kakak urut tu explain a little bit here and there - urut 3 hari, then ada 3 hari lagi untk penutup pantang.
Day 1 will be light massage - lebih kpd mcm nk check part mana kena tumpukan.
Day 2 - massage whole body tp lebihkan pada part2 yg problem.
Day 3 - light massage.

Then they inform sengkak (naikkan peranakan) only will be done during penutup pantang. Reason klu sengkak awal2 ni sakit.yelah baru nk sembuh tiba plak kena sengkak..so they prefer to sengkak during penutup pantang. And kakak urut ni pun inform, klu peranakan dah elok, tak perlu sengkak

So the session started with bertungku. Kakak ni ajar cara yg betul untuk bertungku. Tungku xpayah bawa..guna tungku batu Hospital je. Kakak ni tolong panaskan dan ajar cara tungku esp part perut..part2 lain kakak ni tungku lebih kurang je

Then massage. I brought Minyak Herbanika Nona Roguy...but kakak tu just guna minyak yg diorg ada. The for Krim Barut they use what I bring (Krim Barut Nona Roguy), but ada gak kakak tu mention ada patient bawak krim yg Nora Danish jd jurucakap tu (xingat pe nama la). In case urself allergic bolehla bawak minyak urut sendiri

Last sekali kakak tu tolong pakaikan bengkung...

Ok smbil2 tu bolehla borak2...tnya2 la pe2 petua ke hape...tp me segan sikit..so tnya gitu2 je

End of session one, kakak tu bgtau pemakanan masa bersalin so on

Day 2 & Day 3
Same like previous day..tapi tungku part perut je..urut dan pakaikan bengkung

Penutup pantang
If not mistaken I got myself on day 41,42, 43...(oh ya they open during weekday only so xdelah ikut exact last day pantang ke hape..)

Penutup pantang day 1,2 & 3
Masih sama..tungku perut, urut seluruh badan, dan pakai bengkung..Sengkak hari ke 3 penutup pantang. Tapi kakak tu dh inform awal2, klu demam, makan panadol..sbbnya dia kata kdg ada patient demam urat. True enough sbbnya myself demam on the 44th day!

Overall services really good (even though free) they massage the whole body, klu rasa xtahan sakit just bgtau nanti kakak tu adjust accordingly..Sebenarnya bnyk ilmu2 perbidanan boleh tnya kat diorg

My labour story - drama in the labour room?

As usual, this entry must be written despite it will be long entry or perhaps after several months of the birth...because each delivery is unique!

The only similarities between 1st and 2nd are both delivered at Hospital Purajaya and also overdue pregnancy *maybe my womb provide best place for for both of them until can make us worried!*

But, for 2nd pregnancy baby was not engaged until to the very last minute...to be exact I think the engaged process was an hour before he was delivered

29 June 2011

8.00 am
- Husband send Afham to nursery. Have an express shower. Packed all things. Mak bekalkan roti dan air milo
- Sempat makan roti sekeping + bberapa hirup ar milo *ok because last time almost xde energy nk deliver sbb xmakan*
- Register at counter and after that as usual with all those CTG, soal jawab keluar tanda ke, air ketuban ke, sakit ke?
- Husband settled all those registration, payment, so on , while myself in monitor room

9.00 am
- Dilated 2cm - checked by Dr Naza. Since the graf not nice thay decided to put drip...Erk another Dr attempted 3 times before the drip was set..*habis tangan kiri bengkak...since 2 attemp failed..last time sekali je cucuk dh ok, pdhal dl nurse yg buat!*
- Dr Naza informed that she will informed my condition to Dr Hazim since she not sure Dr Hamidah in or not...
- What I noticed there's a lot of medical student so on lalu lalang...nasib la FPP so diorg xleh kacau
- Heard at least 3-4 pregnant ladies sent to Hospital Kajang...Hosp Putrajaya dah penuh..again nasib FPP klu tak dh kena tendang

10 am
- Masuk air botol ke 2. I think org lain sume dh keluar masuk monitor room tu but myself masih lg dlm room tu
- Nurse asked me whether bring any breakfast..or want to asked husband to get any breakfast for me. Bekal mmg ada kt kereta, but since it was raining heavily, nurse decided to gave me whatever they have..so belasah milo secawan dan biskut beberapa keping

11 am
- I was send to Executive Ward. They informed around 1pm Dr Hazim will come to check my condition
- Nurse came to check my contraction..and she said if it is so super strong to call them.
- Having early lunch..mkn nasi kerabu..husband suap sbbnya myself struggled with frequent contraction
- Sempat terlelap sekejap

1 pm
- Dr Hazim informed that Dr Hamidah not in due to personal emergency thing. So he will be in charge *aduh...mmg all the while klu blh mmg le xmo Dr lelaki tp dh sakit2 mcm gini xkan la nk tggu Dr Hamidah lg kan?*
- He informed that I already dilated 3cm *mcm slow progress kan je...pdhal kul 9 br 2cm*.
- He decided to break my waterbag...*Baca mostly comment sakit giler...for me ok la blh lg tahan..cuma segan Dr lelaki*
- Sempat borak2...he said his younger sister also tgh tggu masa nk deliver anak no 6...but by comparing condition he said that I will deliver first..while I said to him " Dr..bkn ke tu anak ke 6..ptt lg cepat dr sy la kan?" then he replied "hmm..kita tgk rezeki masing2, but I believe u deliver dulu
- Oh ya..nasib baik ubat berak nurse yg tlg masukkan...seganla Dr lelaki

1.45 pm
- Already in the deliver room...last time at this hour dh selamat lahirkan Afham
- Frequent contraction, but since this is 2nd exp I believe I manage it better than 1st..ape tak yg first dulu masuk LR terus suh husband masuk teman..nasib yg 1st tak le terlalu lama kat LR..klu tak mau la huband lenguh berdiri teman bini..
- This time siap pasang tiub oksigen kat hidung..*erk dulu xde pun...ke sbb myself ada asma time pregnant?*
- For past few days I have nose blockage..nk kata selsema teruk idakle tapi hidung tersumbat on-off...so bygkan nk buat breathing technique-contraction-hidung tersumbat sebelah...
- Someone *I think mcm medical student je..lelaki plak tu..hish mcm dh tak FPP plak* came asked whether I want epidural or not *mula2 ingat nk amik..ada la exp epidural..tpkan lps tu fikir jimatkan duit dr epidural dgn bertahan..- haha kedekutkan?*
- Since tak nak epidural, maka gas adalah option. Again since this is 2nd exp maka sudah lebih tahu control diri untk guna gas *yes this time I know how to control and at the same time got the gas effect*
- Then ada few *again* medical student came in monitor CTG and then asikla komen "baby puan tido..."

3 pm
- Contraction getting stronger. SMS husband asked him to come in
- Blh tak nurse lupa registerkan husband tuk teman wife dlm LR..
- Started the LR drama..."abang..sakit..." , and as usual recite selawat, Surah al-Anbiya,87..Laila ha illa anta subha na ka inni kumtum minazzolimin, breathing technique, and also gas..
- Since before this I read someone took gas and her head started think of at the other world - khayal, mamai , so I tried to control the effect by took on-off the gas
- I really feel want to pee but mcm x boleh...so asked husband to call nurse

4pm
- Nurse came. She help to pee - bkn pegi toilet..tpkan dia keluarkan urine guna tiub...Asked her when someone will checked how cm dilated? She said " pukul 5 nanti br ada org check..."
- OMG..rasa mcm lmbt sgt nk check dilation...So I requested her to check while she help me to pee..
- She said 5cm already
- Decided to give me pitocin "kami bg pitocin untk cepatkan jalan ye puan..."
- Once the pitocin in...it gave super- duper- impact! Maybe at the same time kepala baby pun nk engaged
- By comparing to first one, I think ini lg sakit...dah tak tahu terjerit ke hape kt husband, but jerit pun kata "sakit"..tapi dah 2 kali bersalin so far tak pernah gigit tgn husband, but gigit sarung bantal..erk
- The worst thing I stated to feel nk berak..*malu la plak nk tulis...tp kena tulis jugak..blush*
- Again panggil nurse since dh mcm terkencing, terberak..she said its normal
- I think few times pee-poo...mcm org cirit..at the same time mmg terasa kepala Alif nk engaged...*hint : last minute engage ni sakit (for me), plus xamik epidural*
- Suddenly I really cannot bear the pain..rasa nk teran...ape lg berdrama la kata "sakit". Agaknya sbb suara kuat..kelam kabut misi mai
- Dr Hazim pun masuk..misi cepat2 put my legs to support and asked me pegang besi...serius kelam kabut giler


5.00 pm
- Alif lahir with 2 push...nurse sume xsempat nk jd cheerleader..sbbnya dh super kelam kabut
- Dr Hazim put him betul2 atas my stomatch. Alif cried loudly *compared to Afham*
- Dr Hazim keluarkan uri dan jahit...
- Sempat borak ngan Dr Hazim *smbl sedut gas..sbb last time Dr Hamidah dh ajar time jahit sedut je gas..kot2 tak tahan time jena jahit*
- Asked Dr Hazim " Dr tak buat episotomi kan?..Dr said " tak de..x sempat"...he also added actually "tak sempat fully dilated pun..br 9cm. tapi koyak normal under control"

5.15pm
- Dr Hazim finished with procedures *eyh rasa mcm kejap je kan?* He congratulate me..
- Husband also settle down - azankan Alif..amik uri, etc dan balik since he need to fetch Afham

6pm
- Nurse came to help with breastfeeding *ok last time I missed this part because Afham was send to NICU right after born*

7pm
- Nurse come to check baby and me ok.
- Dr came...to check whether its ok to release me to ward

8pm
- Nurse send me to ward
- Super lapar...nasib la diorg x clearkan lg food..ok lauk ayam jd santapan..
- Husband came with MIL, Afham dan sepupu dia
- MIL temankan tdo malam tu. Husband balik ngan Afham

Whole night
- Since this is my 2nd exp, managed not to call nurse even once. Even MIL also can sleep. Alif ada gak berjaga few times for feeding and also he poo poo.
- Nurse came few times just to make sure I'm ok or not

30 June 2011
9 am
- Dr Hamidah came to check my condition. Sempat la borak2..she said she told Dr Naza if I did not progress anything..no need to do anything on me, wait until she came back. But since dilation and contraction so on, maka Dr Hazim replaced her

3pm
- Discharged.

So that's all..To my suprised some of the nurses at the executive ward recognised me "cam muka-tapi mcm ingat2 lupa". Ada yang tanya "mcm pernah tgk sblm ni"..and I said " taun lepas bersalin sini, dok executive ward jugak" *segan2 lah plak*

Total cost for this time almost RM1.5k. This time I stayed at 2 bedded room compared to previous one. I will blog later again on FPP thingy and also TCM unit, Hospital Putrajaya *again crossing my finger I can have my sweet time to blog*

Overall, Alhamdulillah 2nd experience much better despite Alif not engaged till the very last minute.

Alhamdulillah..I'm officially mother of two..

Opss..Afham turns as big brother at the age of 1 years 3 months 3 weeks and 1 day old

part finale *ok2 I took 3 months to finish it...*

Nurse also mentioned that I should untie my hair *so klu rambut panjang mengerbang pandai2 la adjust* I am not sure the reason, maybe afraid pressure in the head???

After adjusting me here and there, the drama start...Soo many nurse, 1 doctor -pegawai perubatan*mcm selalu klu encik suami and me discuss selalu kata tu doktor ke pegawai perubatan*, and my gynea Dr Hamidah.

As usual labour room drama is "push...push...." My first attempt failed....so all the nurse, doctor, gynea cheered me up...*okeh dlm labour room tu rasa mcm final game yg ada cheerleading team...dan ianya bknlah cheerleading team citer Glee ok?*

For me it was soo many attempt. I cannot remember how many, maybe almost 10. I do not have proper breathing *isk mcm xreti curik nafas*, wasting energy to push, and maybe no energy due to the last food intake was yesterday around 11pm *nasib baik rajin supper*

I keep attempt to push with help from all. Of course Dr Hamidah will asked me when to do it and give me some support..During that time, I'm almost think redha sajalah kalau kena c-zer. But knowing govt hospital they will put it as the super last resort.

Dr Hamidah keep saying "Zuraihan, boleh ini, lagi sikit..." and so on

I tried and tried, suddenly I can felt the episotomy *haip baca kat mag patut xrasa sakit..ntah mcm mana sy rasa plak ek?* So it was something that makes me alert and trying my best to push. Besides I heard Dr said baby heartbeat slow and she might use forcep *dgr word forcep terus push dgn cemerlang, agaknya takut kepala baby akn lonjong sekejap*

1.48 pm

With that I manage to push and finally Dr Hamidah said dah nampak kepala....and the rest tak rasa ape2.Dr Hamidah put Afham betul2 atas my tummy, seriously it was unexplainable moment.

They took Afham to do the necessary thing. While Dr Hamidah setelkan bab uri dan jahit. That time she mentioned that everytime if I felt pain/ unconfortable, I can use the gas *boleh tak masa tahan sakit contraction, cakap kat misi "sy x rasa pe2 pun kesan gas ni"*

While Dr Hamidah settled the things, the gas really gave me a lil bit sleepy *that moment barulah tau agaknya td contraction and so on, gas tu mmg buat penat sedut...bila hati dh gumbira, proper breathing, gas tu betul2 magic*

Even tho I am a bit sleepy, sempat lagi asked doc how long the episotomy? She just said "Normal for first baby" *agaknya xmo bg stress hape2 kot*

2.30pm

Everything finished, even sempat black out sekejap. Dr Hamidah pun mentioned nasib baik everything dh settle so dont bother black out.

The nurse came and gave me to kiss the baby...Owh2 Afham kecik2 dh pandai kenyit mata, boleh tak masa tu ibu nk cium Afham mcm kenyit mata..mata kanan je bukak, mata kiri tutup. The rest story no need to write it here...

So what I can share [personal opinion, of course diff people have diff level] :-

-sakit kena seluk tu adalah sedikit tidak selesa, tetapi tidaklah super sakit *ke sebab masa tu sy concentrate sakit lain maka bab seluk2 tu xrasa la sakit sgt*

- contraction pain adalah teramat sakit, ada kata akan sakit pinggang mcm nk patah and so on *hakikatnya sy xde rasa sakit pinggang, so lain org lain la rasa sakitnya*

- I must agree that towards the end of pregnancy we must eat, eat and eat *sbb bila dh start super contraction dan kalau xde epidural maybe nak makan pun dh xsempat*

- selebihnya, harus tawakal walau nyawa di hujung tanduk

- after normal delivery, we might have trauma esp sesi-qada-hajat-besar for quite some times *I read some even said diorg sanggup rasa sakit contraction drpd sakit seksa nk membuang*

- after delivery, also still ada rasa sakit mcm2 ok. Masa ini lah tak kan pertikaikan "syurga di bawah kaki ibu"

Personally, Alhadulillah since I do not have super long delivery process [smpi hospital around 9.30am , 1.48 dh bersalin..so dalam 4 jam kira agak cepat]. Even nurses kat executive ward also like "eh cepat betul bersalin ye".

I know I took sooo looong time to finish the birth story...even Afham already 2 months...the reason sometimes I lost my mojo or its because I don't want to make new mom scared?

Lets continue

10 am

...straight away call the nurse

They asked me to go to the labour room. [Air ketuban kaler hijau ada 2 sebab iaitu overdue atau baby sudah buang air besar]

Actually when encik suami said "Hijau"...I already felt like "Ya Allah, jgn ler kena czer...." Because I want to have normal delivery.

As usual in labour room, they will put CTG machine to monitor baby's heartbeat and also contraction level [dun asked me how to read all this...even I never asked my husband to monitor it]. Besides I was given pitocin thru drip.

Not to mention sesi seluk2 berlaku lagi...This time already 3 cm dilated.

Then the nurse left me alone in the labour room. However, I do asked them whether my husband can accompany me even tho still not yet nak bersalin. The reason because I really need support [baca blog org lain sempat la emak masing2 tgk anak nk bersalin...but me? emak pun dh takde...]

Then nurse came and said "Puan, kejap lagi suami puan dtg ye....dia pegi alihkan kereta....". The waiting moment was like too long for me. The contractions was really frequent, while I recite Surah al-Anbiya,87..Laila ha illa anta subha na ka inni kumtum minazzolimin [for those yg nk deliver start2 la hafal zikir ni ye]

Earlier, one of nurse mentioned that I can use the gas esp every time I felt the contraction. So besides recite zikir, selawat, surah2 pendek I tried it. Although they mentioned that the gas will makes me a lil bit sleepy and will reduce lil bit the pain, the fact that I do not felt anything [penat je sedut, tp xrasa pe]

Encik suami finally came and at this moment the contraction level getting higher. I read before that some said its like period pain...but the fact it is more than period pain. Sakiiiiit giler [ok2, I admit I had period pain like once or twice in a year...so maybe I dun remember my last time period pain].

The pain, the CTG machine sounds, the gas..owh2...

I admit in the labour room beside kumat kamit baca pe2 yg patut sy jugak mengerang "sakit...sakit..sakit" [bukan jerit ok? just mcm cakap sorg2]. Until one of nurse "Puan, puan x boleh macam gini...sabar ye puan [ok nurse banyak xingat pun yg mana satu]

At one moment, the contraction and pain was really2 pain. The only thing that I can think was between life and death. [lain org lain yg dia fikir kan? but serious for me it was what I can think]

Since that, I asked encik suami to help me, recite anything then I followed him. Besides, he also asked me to have proper breathing technique that we learn during antenatal class. [skrg rasa ampeh sbb dh kelam kabut masa tu nafas pun xcukup ok...mcm tercungap2 lagi adalah]

The nurse asked also if we bring air selusuh...I only have minyak selusuh, but left at home..so nothing can be done.

The nurse and doctor also keep on checking my condition and also asked if I already like to meneran...I cannot remember exactly what time when they came and checked 6cm dilated. I also heard something like like my contraction level high.

After they said 6 cm dilated, suddenly I felt the pain become more and more...to the extend suddenly I pop up question "Boleh amik epidural tak?" [In the first place, I dun want to take epidural, but somehow suddenly felt like teramat sakit dan jugak macam xde tenaga]


Heard some discussion nurse and doctor, and they came to encik suami adn said epidural hanyalah waktu office hour and weekend no epidural. Besides its already 6 cm dilated.


Since no epidural, I just can pray that everything will be ended very soon.


During contraction and so on, suddenly everything became fast forward, serious tiba2 rasa mcm express pulak bila nurse2 prepare me, put my legs to the support and asked mr pegang besi for the delivery [ xpandai nk explen..tp kaki kena mcm ikat sikit dan tangan leh pegang besi smbil nk teran]

found this..yg kaler itam tu tempat buh kaki dan nanti pegang besi betul2 bawah tuh [paham ke puan2 sekalian??]..hehe nama benda ni Obstetric Labour Table Telescopic

Some colleague expect me will be in Labour Room..some Chinese colleague even said this date is double "ong" since it was V-day and CNY. But nothing happened. The only thing that I remembered I have started feel the Braxton Hicks

Have a checkup. Everything fine. Dr Hamidah even checked and said dilated about 2cm, she said and hope by next week can deliver [she mentioned anak pertama biasa akan amik masa even dh engage sume tu...depends pada org jugaklah kan?]

Today is Maulidur Rasul. In my mind I really hope to deliver on this date, so in future it will be easier to remember our baby birth date in Islam. Besides of course mengambil berkat kelahiran Nabi Muhammad s.a.w. At the end of the day still nothing happened.

03.03.2010

If following babycenter.com, today will be the due date. Nothing. Only Braxton Hicks. I remembered some of friends mentioned to eat, eat and eat since you'll never know when the time comes [xmakan xde energy nk push pulak kan?]

So started from this date I have supper and encik suami browsed her eyes. Maybe I look like monster yang tak berhenti2 makan..hihi

04.03.10

My final checkup. Since no real signal, Dr Hamidah gave me a date for induce delivery which 12.03. She informed that by 12.03 I must register to the hospital at 2pm...

However she mentioned that usually her patient will deliver between this date and can escape from induce...Discuss also few things like whether I can have normal delivery and she said everything will depends on the delivery date, but czer always the last resort.

To be frank, I never expect to be overdue...of course soo many things in my mind. Stress jugak bila kawan2 sms tnya and so on...Phew, never expect an overdue baby as mentioned here

07.03.10

3.30 am

I started to feel pain in my stomatch. I thought it was Braxton Hicks [maklumla asik kena false alarm..so dh xtau tu sakit contraction]. As usual have a visit to toilet

5.00 am

Waked up encik suami and asked her to get some water downstair since I cannot moved!

Between 3.30 to 5 am, I cannot sleep, the pain was likely every 20-30 minutes. I have so many position to make me felt comfortable [not to mentioned I try to sleep in the toilet....]. Felt a little bit stressed since encik suami in la la land [since I was not sure whether I should asked him to drive me to hospital].

6.30 am

Subuh prayer but very difficult...cannot really concentrate

7.30 am

Encik suami ikut terbaring di sebelah, since I felt comfortable baring di lantai. Then he also cannot sleep since he saw me like this....

8.30 am

The pain is really frequent like every 15 minutes. I tried to adjust-timig-bila-tak-sakit-sangat untuk mandi

8.50am

Have a quick shower. Just grab baju seluar tudung, suddenly I saw "show". Called encik suami to help me to down stair [ni tak best umah 2 tingkat..nasib baik he bring his phone together kalau tak harus merangkak turun tangga mcm cerita hantu Korea la pulak]

9.20 am

Reached Hospital Putrajaya. Boleh encik suami salah masuk lorong [sah2la dh panic tuh]. Sepanjang dalam kereta rasa sakit. nasib baik seat tak tercabut since pegang seat begitu kuat

Nurse asked why I am wearing pants, she told just wear kain batik [hello, I pakai cantik2 pun salah ke?]. Encik suami settled all the register things, while nurse checked my blood pressure and so on.

10 am

Admitted to ward. Nurse asked me whether to have ubat berak. I just said yes. Just dilated 1cm. The effect of ubat berak super fast, immediately visit toilet.

Laid down and suddenly I felt "pop". Asked encik suami to check. He said the waterbag is green. Straight away call the nurse.....

Full paying patient (FPP) Hospital Putrajaya

remote control - to call nurse, adjust bed, on/off and volume for tv

you dun have to worry to blog from ur room since u can charge lappy and hp

tv (no astro), mini fridge

adjustable bed, one seat comfortable sofa (leh adjust part kaki)

not in picture : 2 chairs untuk tetamu...

they will lend medela lactina (in pic on the bed) if you want to pump

I saw from nuffnang keyword that someone search "ada private wing ke hospital putrajaya?, anyone given birth under full paying patient in hospital putrajaya, bersalin di hospital putrajaya dengan fpp"

So I shared here some of the information that might help. Hospital Putrajaya do have private wing but they call it as Full Paying Patient (FPP). Actually before this I have wrote it here, but that time belum bersalin lg

I am FPP patient, since from few pregnancy check ups (towards the end of pregnancy) and also giving birth. So you might wonder what is FPP, and anything special about it? How to enrol and so on. So I share some of personal experiences.

Firstly, we just walk in to the hospital to get some general idea FPP concept esp $ [at that time really blur no idea]. From explanation O&G basically they have 4 specialists that you can choose Dr Noraihan (Head of O&G), Dr Hamidah and 2 male doctors.

The charges for normal around RM 2k (max), while for operation range from RM3-5k [actual all depends on the condition and also bed charges that you choose]. Bear in mind Hospital Putrajaya have only first class. For FPP you can choose either 4 beds, double bed, single bed and executive single bed.

Upss bfore terlupa both of us not gov servant, so I am not sure if govt servant sign up for FPP akan lain charge or not...

After some discussion, we choose Dr Hamidah and one of the staff set up the appoinment date [dun worry, she will check with the doc first]. No payment just register and she will give small yellow book. Besides we brought also referral letter from clinic, however they do not request it.

On the appointment date, we went to FPP counter and need to sign the consent form and pay RM110 for consultation and registration.

For the next appointment, register at the FPP counter and pay RM60 (if there is extra things done like x ray and so on, you need to paid later once you finished your check up)

Deposit of RM3k to be paid only on the day you admitted for delivery. If the actual charges lower than the deposit amount, they will reimbursed it by cash.

Being FPP patient you will have special treatment. Patients to receive all the conviniences of a private hospital like the choice of rooms and attending specialists and special registration and appoinment facilities but minus the subsidies in the fees. Like for pregnancy check up, ur turn do not follow by ur number [senang cakap u will cut the queue].

For my delivery, we choosed executive single bed [encik suami kata pergh rate 1 malam di hospital lebih mahal dari rate kat hotel..ihik dear, ni sebagai ganti xde honeneymoon masa mula2 kawen dl..okla kan bang?].

The room is attached with toilet and shower, TV (no Astro), mini fridge, one seat comfortable sofa, 2 chairs, and for foods I can choose from the menu that they have for the day, several set including vegetarian set. Usually every evening they will asked you to choose for the next day menu [but the menu is not actually cater for confinement meals..it is just standard meal..so pepandai le pilih]

I stayed for 4 days and 3 nights [since Afham admitted to NICU, even my gynea said I can went home on second day but encik suami said just stay hospital as it will be easier nk jenguk2 baby].

Overall charges for 4 days 3 nights is RM 2k [normal delivery, episotomy, no epidural, no forcep]. RM900 itself is for 3 night..so I bet if normal delivery and 2 days 1 nights it cost around RM 1,400.

For Afham since he admitted to NICU, he was charged as separately [normal charges, no FPP].

I might consider giving birth here for next baby(ies) since I'm satisfied with overall things..[wakaka anak yg sorg ni pun masih terkial handle dh ada hati nk masuk no 2....]

Disclaimer: Hospital charges correct at that time. Any changes should ask the hospital.

The delivery story

"aik ? baby overdue? mcm jarang je dgr...slalu tercepat.."

" baby boy slalu kuar cepat dr EDD.."

"baby overdue ni bijak2 tau...sbb lama dok dalam perut..."

And so on...

For those pregnant/ planning to pregnant...you must aware that EDD is just estimation...It can be either one of the following

• earlier than EDD (either premature / full term)
• EDD
• overdue (by few days / or ur gynea will advice the chosen date to induce usually 7 days from the EDD)

My baby was overdue and of course my gynea give the chosen date to induce, however....
